I love that hour before the sun dips below the horizon. That last glimmer of day before night befalls us. The warm sun hugs you with light soft and dreamy.
The benefits of golden hour are many. The warm light and soft shadows are the biggest sellers for me.
One Sunday years back at a church we used to be a part of, the pastor approached me and asked if I could photograph the church directory pictures. I of course said yes and figured it out and learned as I went along. It went amazing. I photographed one family and that night the dad had a heart attack while driving, crashed, and died.
I photographed a gorgeous family one year. Seriously so sweet and beautiful. They had a big bunch of people with sweet big hearts. Their love just oozed out of them. They were fun! Later in the year (or the next) I see condolences. The son killed himself.
I got asked to photograph two brothers. One brother had his cancer come back again and it was terminal. he did not have long left on this earth and they wanted to capture the brothers in uniform. It was a moving session. I was in tears the whole time.
One time I got to photograph a sweet kids baptism. He had a brain tumor. Terminal. Mom got pictures to cherish forever.
We are not promised tomorrow, we are not promised the next moment. I just want to capture as many moments for you as I can. You never know what tomorrow will bring. Don’t put off your session because you need to lose weight or have the right outfit. Don’t put it off! Sessions are so easy and they are fun. No stress, no pressure. Just love and capturing memories.
I am LOVING one of the current updates on Photoshop CC. The sky replacement feature does not work for every image but it can be AWESOME!
I am also loving the “select subject” tool. It does a pretty good job of just selecting the subject for me! I have never learned the tricks to doing that effectively.
There is something special about a dad and daughter. It was even more touching with this Marine in uniform. Military families amaze me! They are so strong and truly just beautiful.
Josephine, our big horse-like German Shepherd was being attacked by a mockingbird each time she went into the backyard. We could not figure out where the bird hatred was coming from.
Later in the evening we saw Josephine pouncing at something small on the ground. It was a baby bird! We ushered her inside and checked on the fledgling. Mom and dad were circling the yard and walking the fence squawking and ready to peck someones eyes out.
I asked on Facebook and someone had said to leave the bird and it would be gone in the morning and it was!! We enjoyed watching the little fledgling and getting some cute pictures!
